“Alparslan Büyük Selçuklu is an acclaimed Islamic historical series that captivates audiences with its engaging action and battle sequences. The series has quickly gained a devoted following, establishing itself as a premier example of its genre.”
However, there is a significant oversight in the series that has not been addressed. In many Islamic historical productions, key characters who are depicted as leaders of the Ulama, or Islamic scholars, are portrayed as the primary heroes and guides for the audience. This representation is incomplete and does not fully capture the complexity and diversity of the Islamic tradition and its historical figures.
The series Diriliş: Ertuğrul and Kuruluş Osman have achieved tremendous success globally, in part due to the incorporation of spiritual guidance from figures such as Ibn Arabi and Sheikh Edebali, as well as the presence of Kumral Abdal spiritual scenes. These elements have played a significant role in the series’ popularity and success.
The prequel to the historical series “Alp Arslan” was “Uyanış: Büyük Selçuklu,” which featured prominent figures from Islamic scholarship, such as Ulama Yusuf Hemedani and Imam Gazali. In the series, these figures led the Ulama and provided guidance on the true principles of Islam in the madrasas of Isfahan. Additionally, they engaged in a struggle against the nefarious influence of the character of Hassan Bin Sabah, who led a group known as the Batni and used manipulation of Islamic teachings to manipulate the public. The Ulama, led by Hemedani and Gazali, had to guide the people toward the correct understanding of the faith.
“In the series Alparslan, the absence of prominent Ulama characters has resulted in a lack of spiritual depth and dimension. This has resulted in the series lacking the same level of engagement and interest as seen in Kuruluş Osman, which features a strong presence of spiritual characters and themes.”
“We respectfully suggest to the Producer of this series, Emre Konuk, that the inclusion of these specific characters in future episodes would greatly enhance the competitiveness of the show in comparison to its contemporaries.”
