After hitting 1 billion at the box office, director Todd Phillips has expressed his concern to make a sequel to the Joker. The crime drama film, the Joker has set new records in the history of film making after its record business. This is the first R rated film that achieved this milestone. Joker was released in October 2019 under the banner of WB studios and has recorded 1 billion since then.
Previously, Phillips denied all the news regarding its sequel but now according to Hollywood Reporter after crossing the milestone of 1 billion dollars there are news for its sequel. According to international media, it has always been seen that after a film hits record business the filmmakers start thinking about a sequel.

There were reports that Phillips had the contract of making only one film for DC Universe but now after the blockbuster response, they are thinking to extend their contract to make a sequel.
As far as the sequel is concerned there are many fan theories in the market for its possible storyline. According to some fans, its sequel will mainly focus the character of Harley Quin who is a psychiatrist attending Joker in Arkham Asylum. Harley Quin appeared in Suicide Squad with joker and amazed the audience with her character, a doctor who turns into psychopath idealizing Joker.
